WELCOME!
Welcome Back! We are excited to return for the 2022-23 school year and continue our work together in the pursuit of equity and inclusion for ALL High Plain students, families and staff. We have been busy working with administrators and educators to help build on the work we’ve done the past 6 years to bring a spirit of community and belonging to HPE. We have many projects in the works and look forward to our continued and new partnerships with all members of the High Plain community.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!!
Here is a list of volunteer opportunities and ways for you to help out!
Ongoing initiatives:
- Decorate our bulletin board display (monthly)
- Lead a classroom lesson plan for one of our observances (monthly or periodically)
- Review our classroom lesson plans/supplies to add or remove resources and keep our materials up-to-date
- Contribute to our newsletter (monthly or periodically)
- Gather photos from events and update our website (monthly)
One-time events:
- Help set up the Family Diversity Project display in October
- Assist our Specialist teachers (particularly Art and Music) to highlight and connect their lessons with current observances/holidays
- Help with one-time events like our Spring “Book-raiser” (Book Fundraiser for our school library
Look in your inbox for our first meeting of the year! It will be the first week of October, and will be a virtual meetup. Agenda is forthcoming!
We’re starting off the school year with a new bulletin board! Look for our IDEA displays in the hallway across from the library! Displays will be changed about once a month. With our new location, we hope to partner even more closely with Ms. Slomsky and Ms. Cremin in the school library to feature authors and books relevant to our displays!
October went by in a flash! Our display in October featured Diwali. We also shared our display space with the amazing school-wide portrait exhibit: Of Many Colors. Check out photos below!

The Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity Alliance (IDEA) is an active committee of High Plain Elementary parents, staff, and teachers who work in collaboration to strengthen the cross-cultural understanding of our HPE community, to encourage pride in our diversity, and to celebrate the increasing benefits of our multicultural identity.
